The property is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, walking paths and lovely scenery with an emphasis on outdoor access for residents. Each home area has two separate wings, each with its own bathing spa, private dining area, and den with a fireplace. At the end of each hallway, there are individually decorated areas for residents to visit with family and friends. Ground floor home areas have direct access to secure gardens, while the second floor has two patios which overlook the garden areas below.

Individuals under 16 years of age must have approval from a parent or legal guardian to be designated as a caregiver. The province has prioritized the supply of PPE to long-term care homes. The homes have an appropriate supply of equipment to support everyone’s safety, and we are working with the province and suppliers to maintain that inventory. Staff and resident cohorting will be implemented to limit the spread of the virus in the home. Cohorting means that residents may be moved to a different location in the home and staff may be assigned to work with specific residents or to provide care for residents in a specific order.

ANTIPSYCHOTIC MEDICATION AT LONG-TERM CARE HOMES
All reports are public and displayed in the long-term care homes. Caregivers, who provide support or assistance to meet the needs of the resident, including providing direct physical support with activities of daily living, or social, spiritual or emotional support. In the past decade, the resident population in long-term care homes has become much more clinically complex and fragile. The prevalence of cognitive impairment and dementia has increased. At the same time, there has been an important societal shift over the last decade which has changed the way we think about dementia and dementia care, and what we expect from long-term care homes.
By comparison, Kitchener’s Lanark Heights’ wait times register at 60 days, with 88 days for Chartwell Westmount LTC Residence and 91 days for Revera Forest Heights. The LTC home with the longest wait time in Kitchener appears to be The Village of Winston Park at 159 days. Wait time to long-term care home placement is measured using both wait time in the community and wait time in acute care. I am hoping to encourage an open dialogue between the Ministry and professionals in the seniors industry to work together to provide optimal care for our older adults. As well, it is my hope that the public has an opportunity to share their real life experiences in finding services, and placement in long term care for their loved ones.

Long-term care homes provide 24/7 nursing care and supervision, primary medical care, help with daily activities and interests, and a safe, caring home environment. The vast majority of people who live in long-term care have some form of cognitive impairment and physical frailty, along with chronic health conditions that have seriously compromised their health. We measure our ability to provide care within five days of assessment completed by a care coordinator. We measure this for all patients who need nursing, as well as for complex patients who require personal support services. Delayed admission to a long-term care home can result in health complications for people waiting, as well as create stress for them, family members and other caregivers.
Basic rooms are linked by a washroom that is shared between two residents. General visitors are not permitted to visit residents who are isolating or areas of the home that are on outbreak. General visitors include people who are visiting for social reasons or who are providing non-essential services. During outbreaks, there may be some restrictions on general visitors.

The average room is 150 to 300 square feet, including the washroom. Any residents and staff who have been in contact with cases will be tested; even those who do not have any symptoms.
